Slave. Christian. Brother in Christ. Onesimus stole from his master and ran away, then had an encounter with the imprisoned Paul…and found Jesus. This is Paul’s plea to Philemon, the slave’s master, to give freedom to his new brother in Christ. Written from prison, Paul writes of freedom, knowing that while he is a prisoner of Rome, his true situation is that he is Captivated by Christ.

Your Calling in the Kingdom of Heaven – 1 Peter 2:5
Jesus spoke frequently of The Kingdom of Heaven, and what it meant for those who would believe. In the 2005 film of the same name, Jerusalem is under attack. The historical Balian of Ibelin calls a group of ragtag defenders to drop to a knee and makes knights of them all. Invigorated by their calling, these knights would save the people of the city. Our calling matters.
